Desktop Virtualisation - often called thin client computing or client virtualisation - is when all computing work is done on centralised servers and the user accesses the system via a low spec terminal.
This has the advantage of allowing centralised server management of applications, resource and data protection. It also means that the users' low spec terminal can either be their existing ageing PC or a dumb terminal that will consume less power and give off less heat saving electricity and air conditioning costs.
