What is Software Assurance?
Software assurance is available for small, midsize and large organisations and helps to ensure that a business always receives the latest Microsoft releases, training and support that are available within their license agreement.
How does Software Assurance Work?
Software assurance can be taken out alongside the purchase of a new license. The purchase of Software Assurance can be spread across the term of the agreement in order to help reduce the initial upfront costs of taking out the assurance policy. This can help with a business’s budget as repayments for Software Assurance can be spread across the terms of the policy. Software assurance is always purchased to cover the remaining terms left on a software license.
Software Assurance expires at the end of the software license term and can be renewed at the time of renewal for the existing license agreement or when a new license agreement is signed.
It is possible to purchase standalone Software Assurance under the following circumstances:
- When systems are purchased either through retail Full Packaged Product (FPP) or from the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). Please note there is a period of 90 days during which a product can be enrolled on to Software Assurance.
- When purchasing Office 2003 or newer versions through OEM and register within 90 days of purchasing the license.
