Software

When Microsoft Windows 7 was launched in the UK on 22nd October 2009 it promised to be bigger and better than Microsoft Windows Vista. According to online feedback these promises seem to have been kept as within a couple of week’s people using Windows 7 account for 10% of computer operating software using the web.

Windows 7 software has significant speed improvements with faster start-up, sleep and shut down times. Another natty feature is XP Mode; this feature makes the worry of upgrading disappear as it allows you to run older programs which depend on XP to run within Windows 7. This is available via a small download from Microsoft.

The following software launches are planned:

  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 (Boxed) - Expected Quarter 1 2010
  • Microsoft Sharepoint 2010 - Expected April 2010
  • Microsoft Office 2010 - Expected May 2010
  • Windows Mobile 7 - Expected Spring 2010
  • Visual Studio 2010 - Expected Quarter 2 2010
  • Microsoft Windows 8 - Expected 2012
