June 17, 2011

Chief Information Officers (CIOs) are increasingly looking at green IT solutions in their organisations which includes virtualisation. According to a Poll by Ovum – an independent technology analyst nearly three quarters of CIOs have implemented some form of green IT within their firm.

It is forecast that by the end of 2013 a further eight per cent plan to implement green IT the poll suggested.
Research has revealed that the number of companies that have implemented and are using green IT reached 73% in the last six months of 2010 rising from 68% in the first six months of 2010.

Ovum has suggested that after the recession IT decision makers have been forced to pay close attention to their spending as they looked into the well know cost savings and benefits that Green IT offers.

52% of the CIOs that were polled said that they have been using data centre virtualisation for the duration of the past year and this is expected to rise to around 65% over the next couple of years.
