- Increased compute requirements
- Bottlenecks and limitations in a virtualized environment
- Capacity limitations
- IBM Storwize V7000 and SAN Volume Controller (SVC)
This leading supplier of integrated property support services, design and building intelligence services to some of the UK’s premier brands is a long standing corporate client of Port-P’s for over 10 years.
Outdated legacy storage was fast approaching the end of its 3 year life cycle and the customer’s data and network throughput requirements were beginning to reach its limitations.
Port-P were tasked with analyzing the customer’s existing virtualized environment, network and data throughput, re-scoping the storage capacity to allow another 3 years data growth while also significantly improving performance.
Port-P engaged with the customer holding a series of workshops allowing assessment of different technology platforms and practices in a live environment. It was necessary to consider structured data throughput, management capabilities also allowing the customer a hands on opportunity to test a proof of concept.
Results & Conclusions
After much collaboration it was universally decided an IBM Storwize V7000 and SAN Volume Controller (SVC) would be best fit for purpose utilising its real time compression rates to give far improved performance and capacity results.
A seamless migration with no downtime from old to new infrastructure was handled in conjunction with the customer and an onsite engineer providing installation, training and knowledge transfer at the customer’s site.
